Khadijah Masjid (affiliated with IQRA Foundation) is registered as a non-profit charitable and socio-cultural organization addressing the issues of the Muslim community with the highest levels of integrity, professionalism, and transparency. The masjid has a floor space of over 9000 square feet, is able to accommodate more than 1000 worshippers, and is the home to many other religious and cultural activities. Montreal is the second largest city in Canada and the largest city in the Province of Quebec. It has a population of nearly 3.7 million, of which the Muslim community constitutes around ten percent. Statistics Canada has predicted that the Muslim population will nearly triple over the next twenty years; by 2030 the Muslim population of Montreal will be over one million. The majority of Muslims who have immigrated to Canada have not been here for a long time. Until now, only a few Islamic community centers have been established in Montreal. This is mainly due to a lack of financial means and limited joint support from local Muslim communities. Our initiative is to establish the foundation of “Khadijah Centre/Mosque” as an Islamic center which will bring added value to both the Muslim community and every resident in the City of Montreal.
WE
We are the Muslims who live in the South of Montreal and we are from Ahl Al-Sunnah and Jama’ah. We are appealing to you to help us purchase the building we are currently renting.
OUR MISSION
To help the Muslim community of Montreal practice their faith and contribute to the societies of Quebec and Canada as good and productive citizens.
OUR VISION
To be the most reliable and productive Islamic centre in Montreal with open doors to all residents of the city.
OUR GOALS
Establish a place of worship (mosque) that offers services in conformity with Islamic religious principles.
Establish and maintain a premises for Muslim children which will allow them to learn every aspect of the Quebec curriculum with the addition of aspects of Islam after school.
Establish programs and counseling services for poor and needy persons such that they may be helped in fighting their poverty and achieving long lasting financial stability.
HISTORY
By the mercy of Allah the Almighty, Khadijah Masjid was founded in 2002 by the efforts of IQRA foundation (A registered charitable organization in the province of Quebec since 1998). We began in a rented building at 2361 Centre Street, Pointe Saint Charles in the South-West borough of the Greater Montreal Island. The Masjid has now been relocated to 2385 Centre Street with a lease agreement term of twenty years. We hope to purchase this building and make it a permanent Islamic center.
